Solar - Slope Too Steep - UK

Process for generating final solar > 5% slope constraint map

  1. Generate initial slope map using MapterHorn

  1. Use QGIS to break all multipolygons into polygons for solar-slope-too-steep-uk.gpkg

  2. Download OS OpenMap from https://osdatahub.os.uk/data/downloads/open/OpenMapLocal

  3. Using QGIS, select "buildings" layer from OS OpenMap GPKG file and add 1m buffer.

  4. Subtract 1m-buffered buildings from solar-slope-too-steep-uk.gpkg to eliminate DTM anomalies where removed buildings leave 'footprint' that incorrectly generates steep slopes around edges of buildings.

  5. Using QGIS, simplify layer from [5] to 1m
